The study fell into a heavy, suffocating silence once the doors closed. Arzoo collapsed onto the cold floor, her haldi outfit spreading around her like a wilted flower. The sting on her cheek from her mother’s slap was nothing compared to the raw ache in her chest. She had lived her whole life as a "good girl," a sheltered daughter, and in one night of desperate rebellion, she had ruined everything.
